Project Description

The first generation Shogun made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show 1981 and was launched in May 1982. Initially it was a 3-door SWB with a metal or canvas roof and three different engine options, although more gradually more were added, ending with a 3-litre V6 to top the range.
This example has the 2.6 4cyl petrol engine.

At the time of sale of this model in the UK it was not uncommon for  clients to fit a turbo charger, which must have made for a good fun driving experience. Our model is a very late registration in relation to the build date as rear leaf springs are present. Later models were fitted with rear coil suspension.

Supplied new by main dealers Allanbank Motors in Bournemouth, it still retains the original dealer number plates as well as rear window sticker. Very little has been done to the vehicle whilst under our ownership which is getting close to 5 years now. It spends its time on display in our showroom alongside the latest generation of Mitsubishi vehicles. This model is standard to the exact build sheet as ordered by the Colt Car Company here in the UK.

Having now covered almost 40,000 miles from new this model has become a very rare sight to see on the UK roads as only three exist on the DVLA database. It has been present at several shows including the 40th celebrations of Mitsubishi in the UK where it won ‘Best 4×4’.
